Yosemite Spring 2012

Dogwoods are out in full swing this week in Yosemite. The second shot is a meadow view of Yosemite Falls in HDR. The next is my favorite shot I got of the Dogwood. It’s 10 feet from a parking lot at the Ahwahnee. Next is the interior of the Ahwahnee. It’s probably the best lounge area in the whole valley IMHO. Next is a night time shot of Yosemite Falls. It was nearly a full moon, so the whole valley lit up. You can also get a moonbow from this, making an interesting element. The water scene is near the base of Bridalveil Falls there are some great spots to explore. I could get lost for hours there.

More interestingness near the base of Bridalveil Falls.

Smaller side of the lounge of the Ahwahnee, and the back side of the fireplace shot below.

An amazing fireplace you can sit in. Or at least next to. I wouldn’t recommend sitting IN the fire.

My traveling companions for the visit. It was their first time to Yosemite. They loved climbing on these rocks! They wanted to come back and do it again. The rocks that is. Giant boulders are fun to climb on when you are a kid.

The park is so beautiful that I wish it were closer to Sacramento. I would visit it often. Even though it’s a long drive it is always worth the trip. Next year I think a winter trip is in order.

Have a great week.

Niello VW Ranch Run at UTI Sacramento

The Niello Ranch Run  is a charity event sponsored by Niello VW to benefit the Ride to Walk foundation. From April 13th to the 15th, VW fanatics and community members come together for a great cause and a good time. Below are a few of the VWs that were at the UTI Sacramento Saturday stop on the three day tour that caught my eye and were willing to pose for a few shots. Rob Payne of Niello Porsche had a pretty sick 72 Rat Rod VW bug with a tiki theme that really caught my eye. There were a few Karmann Ghias that were eye-catching as well, especially the blue convertible model. I could almost own one!

All of the photos from the UTI visit can be found here, and my favorites from the day are below. Have a great week, and enjoy.

Beau Hause on Facebook - It was a mix between the 14-24, 24-70, and the 70-200. Most of the wides are the 14-24 and the details are the 70-200, and there are a few HDR processed photos too. I frequently crouch down for a different perspective! I get some strange looks for sure. ;)

Beau Hause on Facebook - Yup! The owner was like, ‘you want me to move it or something’? I said, ‘no worries, it’s good where it is’. I think he was taking cell phone shots of my lying on the ground then. ‘Crazy photographer on Facebook’ kind of stuff I bet.

Photo Shoot in Acampo

Acampo is a little farm town unincorporated area nearby Galt, CA. It’s a great location for rural backdrops, including barns and horses. Both of which were plentiful for this shoot.

I’m trying out the foursquare for more portable on location shooting, including the soft box.  Plenty of light and pretty reasonable cost wise with 4 LP160 flashes in it.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

Diego’s Umbrella @Harlows Sacramento

Diego’s Umbrella puts on one of the most high energy shows I have seen. I have never seen so many band members, including the drummer, go out into the audience for some quality time during a song. Guitarists perhaps. Drummers? Not so much. I wish they were in Sacramento more often.

This show I pretty much parked in the front row right on the stage, which gave me ample opportunity to try out my new 14-24 lens. 90% of my shots are with that lens, about 5% the 24-70 and 5% the 70-200. D700 with a battery grip. f2.8 for the most part, 3200-6400 ISO, and between 1/160th to 1/500th shutter.

Enjoy life, the people around you, and remember to look around every once in a while. Today is a good day.

Wilcox Harary Wedding

Annie was a beautiful bride. The Citizen Hotel in downtown Sacramento was a beautiful venue. Alex and Annie had a great wedding on a very beautiful February afternoon in midtown Sacramento. Downtown Sacramento really presents some incredible photo backdrop options that make for a beautiful, simple, and elegant wedding location. Congratulations to both Alex and Annie!
