A little bit of perspective can be a powerful thing. Both in life and in photography. 🙂
In this photo I set it up to try to emphasize the great skies we have been having lately. To bring out the blues, I put a cut of CTO gel on my flashes, set up at 45 degrees and a bit wide to make sure we covered the grads and set my white balance to tungsten. That way the graduates are rendered with regular skin tones but the skies and other ambient lit sections go a bit more blue.
But what really makes this photo in my opinion is shifting perspective.
I put the camera on the ground and pointed it up toward the skies and the graduates.
This made the sky more prominent and accentuated the roofline. It makes the photo much more interesting.
