Second shot of the series from the hills near Placerville. This one was really near to sunset, and I really loved the warm colors and the way the leaves arranged themselves around the trunk of the tree. There is so much wonderful fall color up in the hills there!
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and we are going up to my brother’s house near Pollock Pines… Hoping for more fall awesomeness. We’ll see!
Eat lots of turkey and pumpkin pie!

I went shooting with a friend and this was the first place we stopped. It’s somewhere along highway 49 on the way to Placerville California. I like how the reflection in the water gets wavy and goes into oblivion on the edge of the frame.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Here’s a photo from a wedding I shot a few weeks ago. I really like the great backlighting from the evening sun coming over their right shoulder, and the way the foliage is illuminated from the light bouncing around in the canopy behind them.
Strobist – I lit this with a SB900 from camera right on 1/4 power, through a shoot-through umbrella. There’s a bare SB26 coming from camera left to fill in the shadows at 1/16th. Pretty much as contrast control because it was getting dark. 1/200th at f4, ISO 800. 24-70 lens wide as it goes. You can see more of the photos from the day at photos.beauhause.com/
Have a great weekend!
